The Common Core English Regents Test
The Common Core English Regents Test has three sections:
- Part I is a series of written passages followed by multiple choice comprehension questions. There are a total of three passages and 24 questions.
- Part II is similar to the Synthesis Question on the AP Language Test. You will need to cite three of the four sources provided for you in creating an essay that takes a position on an issue given in the prompt.
- Part III is similar to the Rhetorical Analysis essay question on the AP Language Test. You will be asked to "identify a central idea in the text and analyze how the author's use
of one writing strategy (literary element or literary technique or rhetorical device) develops this central idea."
